When God Speaks

Hello Dear Friends,

I know this is a night many of you have been dreading- election night in America 2020. After months of partisan attacks and tensions, and ads upon ads upon ads in your electronic and physical mailboxes- we are finally here. I felt pressed to post. There is so much worry, fear and angst over this election. Such sentiments have defined 2020. As we have discussed before, God is still here. He is still on the throne. Throughout the ages there have been a great many rulers to walk the face of the earth. Each one had their time and passed. God is still sitting on his throne at eternity and 0. He never loses or fails. He never forsakes or neglects us. Now is the time to trust him more than ever.

I encourage you to vote. There is still time! Voting is a right granted through from much toil and sacrifice from those who went before us. Exercise this right each and every chance you get. Regardless of who you voted for, I do hope you voted. As far as voting goes, I vote according truthfully according to biblical values. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, that should be your MO as well.

My prayer for the outcome is that there will be peace, true tolerance, and unity regardless of who ends up sitting in the various seats of authority that are up for grabs tonight. Do not destroy your fellow Americans for having different values than you. That is completely counterproductive, harmful and downright immature. Rise above that.

To close out, I want to take us to Job 38 (NIV). In this chapter, God himself comes down from his throne in heaven to address the plight of his faithful servant, Job, who is in great distress after having gone through unimaginable suffering. His friends gave some crappy advice to say the least, and God was not having it. God wanted to address Job’s concerns and correct the foolish counsel of his friends. God did so by reminding him who he was and who we are not.

“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
    Tell me, if you understand.
Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
On what were its footings set,
    or who laid its cornerstone—
while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?

Friends, we are not God. Congress is not God. The President is not God. The Supreme Court is not God. God is ruler over all and above all. His plans will go accordingly. His plans include always loving his kids and taking care of them. This year and any year to come is no different. Love God, each other and yourselves. I will join you again soon. Stay well.
